Results of the Work – 3/7/22

Hey Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

I hope your day was blessed moving out from under the Winter into Spring. At least the snow that fell on us only had to be shoveled off the deck we walk in on. And Wayne prayed with me to receive Jesus today and Thomas changed his perspective on trusting in his works so I hope he came in also. Got a couple other seeds planted. Kam and Justin who ran to class. I’d be grateful if you’d pray for them. Wayne’s story is below.

Wayne was sitting at the cafeteria counter looking at a phone and eating a subway. He had on a gray cotton hoodie and black nylon sweats with an inch wide stripe running down to black shoes. His head was covered with thin braids. Though African American and he had a perfect Roman nose and full lips and a bit of a mustache, big warm smile. He looked like lean linebacker material but he said he was a receiver and hoped to get into the NFL and play on the “highest stage”. When I asked him what he would say to God to get into Heaven he said, “I would say I’ve done the best I can do up to the point of my final death. I really have no hatred in my heart toward anyone or anything. The best I can do is all I can do.” He said he regularly went to church and thought he had a 95% chance of going to Heaven. I began to go though the Gospel with him and in asking him how god took away his sins he guessed repentance. I explained that God forgave him because He got paid. I made it clear (of course that is really the Holy Spirit not me) that he was saved by the blood and righteousness of Christ. “Can I keep this?” he asked about the booklet as I explained the atonement. “Yeah sure,” I said and explained he needed to receive Jesus by faith. I asked him if he wanted to be forgiven based on what Jesus had done or thought something else and he said, “Yeah I’d be forgiven.” So I asked if he had been trusting in Jesus or his good works to save him. “I have been trusting in my works,” he replied. “But after hearing this, there something I’m gonna have to do.” So I said there was a prayer he could pray if he wanted to be forgiven and I walked him through the prayer and asked if it was the desire of his heart and he said he would I said he could pray it right then if he wanted to be forgiven and he said, “Yeah.” I gave him the booklet and he prayed to receive forgiveness. When he finished I explained living “Inside Out” by the Spirit’s power and the fruit of the Spirit. I gave him a Bible Study and the book Bible Promises for You and wrote his name and the date and “forgiven!” on the inside. “Thank you, Thank you Bob,” he said.  I told him that now trusting in the righteousness of Jesus to be his righteousness the likelihood he would get into Heaven was 100%. “Thank you.” said. I said I would be praying for him through next year, we fist bumped and I headed out.

So thanks for your prayers for the ministry and for evangelism today if you had a chance God truly blessed.

In Him,

Bob
