Results of the Work – 5/9/19

Hey Sisters and brothers in Christ,

How’s it going? I hope your day was blessed today. I had a good day on campus. 150 students have now trusted Christ this year by sharing the Gospel at COD and Florin (pronounced like the chemical Fluorine) prayed to receive Jesus today.

Florin reminded me of Danny Thomas with a smaller nose and if he was 19 years old.

He had the same basic hair cut and hair color. He was wearing a nylon White Sox Jacket and jeans and was sitting alone at a table in a ground floor lounge with vending machines that looks out on an atrium. He said he’d do a student survey and was the only person willing to go through the Gospel today so I was grateful to get to talk to him. He was a really nice guy, said he went to Church on holidays. When I asked him what he would say to God to get into Heaven he said, “I probably got some cleansing to do. I wouldn’t feel worthy, even though I know I am.” He thought he had a 50/50 change to get into Heaven. He knew Jesus had died to take away his sin and so I explained the rest of the Gospel, that he was cleansed by the blood of Christ, His righteousness was to his credit and Jesus rose from the dead to prove He had conquered death. When I asked him he said he’d want to be forgiven. So I asked if when he was asking for forgiveness if he’d just thought he was a pretty good person and God was forgiving so it would be ok, and he agreed right away with that idea. Then I added, “Or are you thinking in your heart, no I know I’ll be forgiven because Jesus died for my sins.” He hadn’t been thinking of that but believed in Jesus. I said if he wanted to be forgiven so God could live inside him there was a prayer he could pray and I talked him through it. I asked if that was the desire of his heart and he kind of exclaimed “Yes, yes!” So that was great. I offered him the booklet saying he could pray silently just to God and asked if he wanted to do it and he said, “Yeah.” and he took it and prayed then to receive Jesus. I explained then that by trusting in the righteousness of Jesus to be his righteousness the likelihood he would go to Heaven was 100%. He didn’t have a Bible so I gave him one and wrote his name and the date and “forgiven” on the inside. I showed him the “Where to Turn” passages and the messianic section. I gave him 20 Things God Can’t Do and wrote “By the Spirit’s Power” and “Just ask” in the front. He liked the 100 Bible verses in the back. I explained the Christian life living inside out by the Spirit’s power and the anything God was asking him to do He would give him the power to do. [ Eph. 3:20] I got his email to send him some stuff. He was grateful and said, “Thank you so much Bob” “Yeah,” I replied “I’ll keep you in my prayers for the next year and ask God to bless you.” “Thank you,” he said shaking my hand.”Have a great day.” “Thank you,” I said back and headed out.

So thanks for your prayers for the ministry today and for evangelism if you had a chance God truly blessed.

In Him,

Bob
