Hey Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I hope you were blessed in Christ today. I had a good day on campus and Shoniece and Thomas each prayed with me to receive Jesus. And Hope emailed me today (after speaking to her Tuesday) to ask how she could take the next steps with God. I’ll meet up with her tomorrow at 11 AM. Please pray about that.
Shoniece was sitting in a row of Airport style chairs against the wall in the big lounge where we have Bible study. She was a cute black girl with a pug nose and her hair shoulder-length in loose curls. She wore boots and leggings and a white faux fur jacket. Kind of a shy kid, she was nice. When I asked her what she would say to God if He asked her why He should let her into Heaven she said, “I don’t know, that’s a good question.” She struggled a bit more and said, “I know I make good decisions in my life so…” She thought she had about a75% chance of going to Heaven. Her parents had stopped going to Church but she had gone when she was a kid. I began to go through the points I make with the Gospel and after every one of them she said, “OK” and a couple of times, “Right.” I offered her the option of being forgiven for her sins with God living inside her and she said she’d want to be forgiven. So I asked if she believed Jesus was God had died for her sins and rose from the dead. She said, “Yes.” So I asked if she would want to place her trust in that to be forgiven and have God live inside her she could pray a prayer. I talked her through the prayer and said she could pray it silently and ask for forgiveness and would she like to do that, “Ah probably,” she said, uncertain about praying in front of me so I said she could pretend I wasn’t there and I slid away, putting 4 feet between us, to let her pray and she did. When she finished she asked, “Do people pray this prayer every day?” I said she could do that if she wanted but having said it was enough to be forgiven and she could also pray about other things if she wanted. I explained walking by the Spirit and gave her a Bible study and asked, “Can I give you a book?” “Yes,” she said enthusiastically and I gave her 20 Things God Can’t Do, Writing her name and the date and “forgiven” in the front. She thanked me and I said I would pray for her and she said, “OK,” and smiled and I headed off.
At the end of the day I asked an Indian guy Thomas, if he’d like to do a student survey. He was sitting on a bench seat outside the bank at school. He had already done a survey he said, like several people I’ve talked to this week. Another group Cru goes around doing surveys about people and faith and never shares the gospel. Several people didn’t want to talk with me as a result this week. Hope was one of them, sometimes I can get a few words in anyway. Thomas didn’t either but I asked him what he would say to God to get into heaven if he died and he didn’t know. He had a bit of an accent, good looking guy with a mop of straight hair swept back on the top of his head short on the sides, a mustache and chin beard, jeans on and a light jacket. I asked if he ever went to Church and he said he was Roman Catholic. I asked what they taught him he should do to go to heaven. He said you do good works and that is what gets you into Heaven. “So good people go to Heaven?” I asked and he agreed. I said the Bible said something a little different and asked if he would want to hear the Bible verses. He said he did and I went through the gospel with him. He listened closely and wanted to be forgiven and, after I talked him through the prayer, he decided to pray to receive Christ. He had a Bible in his native language and did not want a book so I said I would pray for him and he thanked me. Then Cole, another guy who’d received Christ sat down next to me and began to talk so he peeled off and went to his meeting in Starbucks across the hall from us.
So thanks for your prayers for the Ministry and for evangelism today if you had a chance. God truly blessed.
In Him,
Bob
