Hey Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
I hope your day was blessed in the Lord. It is warming up here. I had a great day on campus encouraged a doubting Christian kid and gave him some materials, encouraged another budding shy leader type gave him some stuff too, got a guy tracking towards the biblical view of antiquity in another conversation and Josephine prayed to receive Christ.
Josephine was sitting on the second floor of the BIC on some chairs in the hall across from a lounge. She had brown curly hair, very short boyish cut on the sides. She wore straight leg jeans (not the skinny stylish kind) green athletic shoes and a zipped up hoodie with a black and white striped shirt on. There was not a trace of make-up on her face, a kid, tom-boy cute like if Lyle Lovett had a cute daughter, which he might not be able to do. She was up for doing a survey, though it turned out she had only been to Church 3 times in her life 2 times to a catholic church I think for weddings and one to a Baptist church for a baptism, “The only other times were for funerals. I liked the Baptist one because they sang,” she said. She thought she had maybe a 50% chance of going to heaven. When I asked her what she would say to God if asked why He should let her into heaven she said, “Ah… I’m not a good Christian. I do think kindness should get paid for… I guess that.” She listened closely to the Gospel, often repeating softly the things I said right after me, took it all in and when I asked her if she wanted to be forgiven she shook her head yes. I asked her if she believed Jesus was God had died for her sins and rose from the dead and she said, “I’d have to, there’s lots of pretty things here.” Which when you think about it had He not died for sins there might not be many pretty things left on earth. I explained the prayer she could pray and when I asked her if she’d like to pray it she nodded and as I glanced over she was first reading it then looking away and praying the words. I explained the Christian life to her living “inside out” and since she did not live far away I gave her a card for the Compass Church in Wheaton telling her my folks used to go there and there was singing. She took that and a copy of 20 Tings God Can’t Do and a Bible study to go through. She had a Bible passed down to her from her Uncle Diago who was a pastor, he seemed to live in the south west somewhere. She didn’t look the least bit Latina, but hey. I shook her hand and said good bye and she seemed content.
So thanks for your prayers for the ministry and for evangelism today if you had a chance, God truly blessed the work.
In Him,
Bob
