Hey Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
I hope you had a blessed day today walking with God by His word. I had a good day on campus and encouraged a couple Christians with assurance of faith. I went through the Gospel with a Muslim who at least took the booklet and liked the Gospel presentation. Finally Leo prayed to receive Jesus at the end of the day so that was good. His responses are below if you have some time. Please pray he is sanctified by the Life-giving Spirit of Christ.
Leo was sitting in the cafeteria. He had on an oatmeal-colored pullover with buttons at the neck and an eagle printed on it, he also wore jean shorts. He was a shorter Latino guy with kind of a Charles Bronson shaped face, a big warm smile breaking it in two, dimpled cheeks. He had one of those transparent Michael Jordan mustaches and a chin beard. His wavy not quite straight hair was a mop atop his head. He said he wanted to go to Spain; he’d heard the beaches were pretty but had no relatives there. I asked him, “You’re walking down the road and you get hit by a bus. So you’re dead. And you stand before God and He says, ‘Why should I let you into Heaven?’ What would you say?” He thought for a bit rereading the question and finally landed on, “’Cause I believe in Him.” He thought a bit about the likelihood he would get into Heaven and finally said 70-30 as a percent. I began to go through the Gospel with him and he was attentive. The cafeteria was pretty well empty and he did not seem to be in a hurry the hour having changed for the next class. I asked what Jesus had done back in history to take away his sins so God could live inside him and he said, “He was crucified.” I explained that everything belonged to God, “If I hurt you or hurt me or hurt the world in some way I would owe God something perfect back. But if I’m screwing around in the parking lot and rollover your foot and crush it I don’t have an extra spare perfect foot to give to God.” It was interesting, he said went he was a kid he had broken the feet off a small statue of Jesus. Ever since he felt like he could not move his foot up on an angle at all at the ankles. I looked at his foot as he demonstrated his infirmity. But it did not seem to me anyone could move their foot much from an “L” shape at the ankle. I didn’t think I could much and when I got home I checked with Ellen, her foot barely moved either. I wondered if his mom had sold him on something as a kid because he’d broken a statue. But I let it go; he wasn’t in pain or anything. So I continued on saying all I usually say of the blood of Christ to cleanse him and pay for his sins and the righteousness of God to his credit. God adopted him and Jesus rose from the dead. He needed to receive Jesus. So if someone asked, “Why should God let you into Heaven?” You’d say, “Because Jesus died for me.” I asked if he’d want to be forgiven for his sins or thought something else and mentioned Islam and the Buddha and asked again, “So would you want to asked God to forgive you trusting in what Jesus has done?” “Yeah,” he said enthusiastically. So I said if he wanted to be forgiven there was a prayer he could pray. I talked him through it and asked if it expressed the desire of his heart. He said it did. I said he could pray it silently and God would hear him. “Wanna do that?” “Yeah,” he said seriously and he took the booklet from across the table we were sitting at and put his palms and fingers together like a clap and prayed to receive Christ. I explained then the likelihood he would now go to Heaven trusting in the blood of Jesus to cleanse him and pay for his sins and righteousness of Jesus to be his righteousness was 100%. “Thanks for your time with all this,” he said. I said, “Sure.” I gave him a Bible Study then on the deity of Christ explaining it. I showed him how he could turn the content of a verse into a prayer in Bible Promises for You writing his name and the date and “forgiven!” in the front. Then I also gave him The Case for Christ Answer Booklet. I told him about Strobel and said there might be short chapter in it he would like. He asked me how to know he had a sign from God. I told him that anything God was telling him to do would be moral, he agreed God would not give him a sign to rob a bank. He could pray about it and ask God to give him peace if it was his leading. I explained the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22,23 I explained living by the Spirit’s power and “Inside Out”. I said he could ask for wise council from others, but that he did not need to worry about outcomes because God made all things work together for good and a setback was just God’s leading. I asked but he had not thought he had gotten a sign from God. I told him I would pray a Bible Verse for him each day asking God to bless him from now until Spring and one year after. I stood to go and said, “God bless you.” “You too man, have a good rest of your day,” he replied and I thanked him and headed off.
So thanks for your prayers for the ministry and for evangelism today if you had a chance, God truly blessed.
In Him,
Bob
