Hey sisters and Brothers in Christ,
I hope you had a blessed Easter walking with God. It was Spring Break on campus and we saw family in NC. A blond guy with a blond beard and mustache, Ashton, prayed with me to receive Christ a friend of our niece. He’d been trusting in good works to get into Heaven. Tyrell prayed to receive Christ today. His responses are below if you wish to spend the time. Please pray these have sanctification by the Spirit.
Tyrell was sitting in an atrium lounge by himself in a table next to vending machines on the first floor of the BIC building. He played basketball and football. The hood on his faded black hoodie was up over his head and a couple of fat black braids poked out the front. He had classic African American features, a medium size nose and modest full lips, good looking face with pronounced cheek bones and a sparse mustache and under the chin beard. He also had a bit of an urban accent. He was a basic guy type, said he wanted to visit all 50 states; had been to 8. I asked him, “You’re walking down the road and you get hit by a bus. So you’re dead. And you stand before God and He says, ‘Why should I let you into Heaven?’ What would you say?” He replied, “I mean I try following in the footsteps and living in the way to get to Heaven. I sin but you know I mean…” “Yeah,” I replied. I asked what the likelihood was he would go to Heaven. “I got a nice li’l chance, hopefully,” He replied. I began to go through the Gospel with him and asked what Jesus had done back in History to take away the sins of the world and he said He had died on the cross. I went through that sacrifice the cleansing blood and the payment for our sins. I explained the righteousness of God Christ earned and how we inherited it when we became his child, adopted by the Father and explained how it mattered who did the work. He was really interested the entire time. I explained he had to be saved by faith and asked if he’d want to be forgiven rusting in Jesus. “Um hum,” he replied. I explained there was then a prayer he could pray and explained it asking if it expressed the desire of his heart. “Um hum,” he said again. I said he could pray it silently and God would hear. “Wanna do that?” I asked. “Um hum,” he said the third time and took the booklet and prayed and receive Christ. When he was done I said, “Your sins are forgiven.” Appreciate it,” he said and shot me a big grin. I began to go through the Christian life with him. He did not have a Bible saying the one they had was really his mom’s. He said he’d like one. I explained the study helps and wrote his name and the date and” forgiven!” on the inside. I gave it to him and he said, “Appreciate it.” I explained a Bible study, gave him Bible Promises for You and The Case for Christ Answer Booklet. I said the likelihood he would now go to Heaven was 100%. I explained living the Christian life living by the Spirit’s Power, “Inside out.” I told him I would pray a Bible verse for him each day until Spring and one year after and said I would try hard to remember his face. “I’ll remember you,” he replied with a smile. I got up to go, “Appreciate it.” He said again. I said I was old and he was just getting started but warned it was a long hard road. “Definitely is,” he said and shook my hand. “God bless you,” I said. “God bless you too,” he replied warmly and I headed off. He is a great guy.
So thanks for your prayers for the ministry and for evangelism today if you had a chance. We drove over 11 hours yesterday to get home but the work today was worth it.
In Him,
Bob
