Hey Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

I hope your week was blessed this week walking with the Lord. I had a slow week on campus and there are few students around (most in remote learning class) but 12-week classes begin on Monday so I hope that will get a few more peps in the door. Kinsley, India and Alfonso all prayed to receive Jesus this week and Leslie said she would pray later. Alfonso’s story from Thursday is below if you have time. Please pray God continues to draw these into a closer walk with Him.

Alfonso has sitting at the counter height tables outside the bagel shop in the MAC arts building, his back to the glass wall that looks out at the patio and outdoor theatre. He had a narrow oval face and curly brown hair in a mop on top, short on the sides. He looked Latino but had fair skin and indistinct features, round edges to his nose, just a nice-looking guy. He wore a vintage style button up knit collared shirt with narrow horizontal stripes and black dress pants. Maybe he’d had a presentation in a class as he looked a bit dressed up. He said he wanted to travel, see Japan. I asked him, “You’re walking down the road and you get hit by a bus. So you’re dead. And you stand before God and He says, ‘Why should I let you into Heaven?’ What would you say?” “I feel like every day I try to be a better person than yesterday. You have to wake up every day, hope things will be better and be positive,” he replied. He said he went to Church every Sunday. He thought he had a 60% chance of going to Heaven. I began to go through the Gospel and he had kind of a warm look on his face of sort of wonder, not having really understood before. I said knowing God was eternal life and this meant God wanted to live inside him. when I asked, he knew Jesus had died on the cross to take away the sins of the world. He just seemed to quietly and patiently take it all in, the blood that had cleansed him and the righteousness of God Jesus earned to his credit when God adopted him. I explained he was saved by faith reading the Bible verses through as I always do or quoting them with a reference. He had the same half smile on his face the entire time but the vibe was receptive. I asked if he wanted to be forgiven for his sins trusting in what Jesus had done and gave him the brief CliffsNotes on Islam and the Buddha. Asked then in summary if he’d want to be forgiven and he nodded. I said if he wanted to be forgiven there was a prayer he could pray and asked if it “Expressed the desire of his heart.” He nodded. I said he could pray it silently and be forgiven and he nodded the third time. He took the booklet and prayed to receive Jesus. After, I walked him through the Christian life. He said he had a Bible I explained living by the Spirit’s power, “Inside Out” as the difference between Christianity and other religions. I told him the likelihood he would now go to heaven trusting in the blood and righteousness of Jesus was 100%. I gave him Bible Promises for You and wrote his name and the date and “forgiven!” in the front. I gave him a Bible study and The Case for Christ Answer Booklet. I told him I would keep him in my prayers each day praying a Bible verse for him until Spring and one year after. “Thank you,” he replied. “I’ll try to remember what you look like but a year from now it might be hard,” I said. “Yeah a year’s a long time,” he said. “Well, it was so nice to meet you,” I said getting up to go. “I was nice to meet you too,” he said warmly and I headed off.

So thanks for your prayers for the ministry and for evangelism this past week if you had a chance, God truly blessed.

In Him,

Bob
