Hey Sisters and Brothers in Christ.,
I hope your day has been blessed and you have asked the Spirit to make you “abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” (Romans 15:13) I had a day off today as they closed down the school for teachers but yesterday Cynthia prayed with me to receive Christ. Her story is below if you have time. Please pray she grows in her faith.
I came across Cynthia sitting at the cafeteria counter in front of a burger she’d gone part way through. Before her also were some nuggets and fries which she seemed to have finished though she popped a french fry in her mouth as we talked. She was a Latina with a short diamond shaped face and a broad warm smile. She wore a black pull over hoodie and black sweats. Her hair was long just a bit past her shoulders, parted in the middle with face length bangs. She was engaged and friendly. She was slight and wanted to run a marathon but had only run 5k races. I asked her, “You’re walking down the road and you get hit by a bus. So you’re dead. And you stand before God and He says, ‘Why should I let you into Heaven?’ What would you say?” “Hmm, that’s a good question,” she replied. “That’s a really good question.” She thought for a while and finally just said, “I think I’d just say the basic answer: I’m a good hearted person.” She thought she had an 85% chance of going to Heaven and went to a Catholic Church. I began saying God loved her and then quoting John 17:3 to say that knowing God was that He lived inside her. “It’s like you’re the Energizer Bunny and God’s the batteries, you keep going and going and when you die it’s like you don’t die because God’s inside,” I said. “That’s true,” she exclaimed liking the analogy. I went on to tell her the rest of the Gospel of the righteousness and blood of Christ to cleanse and pay her debt and the God adopted her to give her these things. She was interested throughout and I asked her comparing the 2 circles if she would want to be forgiven for her sins trusting in what Jesus had done or if she thought something else. She pointed at the circle I had described as God living in her giving her strength, forgiving her and taking her to Heaven with a big smile. I said if she wanted to be forgiven there was a prayer she could pray and talked her through it. I asked if it expressed “the desire of her heart” and she nodded. So I said she could pray it silently right now and know she was forgiven. ‘Wanna do it?” I asked. She nodded and she took the booklet and prayed to receive Jesus. I began to go through the Christian life with her. She didn’t have a Bible so I gave her one and wrote her name and the date and “forgiven!” in the front. I said the likelihood she would go to Heaven was now 100%. I gave her Bible Promises for You. I gave her a Bible study and explained how Jesus claimed to be God and The Case for Christ Answer Booklet. I told her I would keep her in my prayers each day praying a Bible verse for her until Spring and one year after. “It was nice talking to you,” she said reaching out to shake my hand. “Nice to talk to you too,” I said. “You have a good one,” she said and I said “Thank you, you too.” And I headed out of the Cafeteria.
So thanks for your prayers for the ministry and for Evangelism. God has continued to bless and 47 students have prayed to receive Jesus with me this year, two more from last year told me they had prayed and others seemed close.
In Him,
Bob
