“The joy of the Lord is your strength”
Hey Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I hope your summer was blessed with good things and God gave you joy as your strength, as in Nehemiah 8:10. I spent the summer listening to and reading through Institute of Creation Research materials and stumbled onto a guy named Wes Huff who works for an apologetics group in Canada. His expertise in manuscripts far exceeds any I could hope to have even second-hand. The modern finds of ancient manuscripts continue to validate the text of the Bible as we now have access to it in Greek and Hebrew. Robert Spencer has also provided some interesting information this summer as I studied Islam a bit.
We got to a couple weddings this summer. One for a nephew in North Carolina, where a college girl prayed with me to receive Christ at the reception. The other wedding we attended was for a girl who came to Christ through my telling her the Gospel at COD several years ago. She married a good Christian man in Georgia. And we were able to spend a few days last week hiking around Devil’s Lake in Wisconsin.
I got some stuff done around the house this summer in spite of the heat and Ellen kept the Earth stable where she works and kept us up to date with Third Watch. This Monday, the 25th of August, ministry begins at school. I’ll be hoping the angels will sing for joy, as “there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repents” (Luke 15:10). So it’s “once again into the breach” to quote Shakespeare’s play “Henry V”, which comes to mind as I return each Fall to campus.
We covet your prayers as I begin, and know that your help in prayer has brought so many to start a life in Christ by the Spirit’s power.
Thanks so much for your help and support to minister on campus again this school year.
May God bless you this Fall.
In Him,
Bob & Ellen
