Hey Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

I hope your day was blessed and you are looking forward to peace and rest. I had a good day on campus and two black guys,  Edmund and Fiyin, each prayed with me to receive Jesus.

Edmund was sitting on some chairs overlooking the door by the bookstore. He had a beard on his jaw line and a separate mustache, with his face gator around his neck as I walked up. He had a rough-top afro and a friendly face. He had on a white t-shirt and light tan cargo pants. He said he would answer some questions about God. He had an island accent in English, sounded Jamaican. I asked him what he would say to God if he died and God asked, “Why should I let you into Heaven?” He thought for a moment and said, “That’s tough, I don’t know. I can’t even tell you if I’m righteous or not. It [would] be God’s decision.” He thought he would have a 50/50 chance of going to Heaven. I went through the Gospel with him, explaining how Jesus had earned the righteousness of God by living a perfect life. “So you don’t go to Heaven because you are good or have enough of your own righteousness,” I explained. “But because Jesus is good and you are connected to Him.” He listened attentively to the Gospel all the way through, saying OK as I made points. When I asked him if he would like to be forgiven, trusting in the blood of Jesus or if he thought something else he said, “Be forgiven trusting in the righteousness of Jesus.” So I said if he would want to ask God for His forgiveness there was a prayer he could pray. I walked him through it, explaining what it meant and asked if he would like to pray and be forgiven. “Yeah,” he said with a smile. So I said he could pray it silently, handing him the booklet and he prayed. As he finished he said of the booklet I had written in and he’d prayed from, “Can I keep this?” I said “Sure,” and then took it back saying, “Let me just write one more thing.” Then I explained living “by the Spirit’s power inside out” and gave it back to him.  I wrote on the survey that the 50/50 answer was now 100%. “Because if you’re trusting in the righteousness of Jesus to be your righteousness: How righteous is Jesus? 100% and what’s His righteousness worth? An infinite amount.” He smiled at that. I gave him Bible Promises for You and wrote his name and the date and “Forgiven!” on the inside. We got up and I headed to the science lounge and he to the bathroom.

Fiyin was sitting in the PE lounge. He had very dark skin and a small mouth, a mustache and some facial hair. He had on a black T-shirt and black shorts and had a gold cross around his neck.  He said he’d done a survey already so I said, “This is different. The main question is: You’re walking down the road and you get hit by a bus and you’re dead and you stand before God and He says to you, ‘Why should I let you into Heaven?’ What would you say? So would you like to know how to get into Heaven? There’s some verses in a booklet.” “Can I see it?” he asked. I said, “Sure,” and I took it out to use part of it to explain the Gospel. He listened attentively except for answering his phone, when he pulled down his mask briefly. When I finished the Gospel, I asked if he would want to be forgiven for his sins trusting in Jesus or if he thought something else. “Forgiven for my sins trusting in Jesus,” he replied. So I said there was a prayer he could pray to be forgiven. I talked him through it and asked if he would like to pray it silently and he said he would and took the booklet and prayed to receive Jesus. When he finished he crossed himself. I took the booklet to explain living, “By the Spirit’s Power, Inside out.” I gave it to him and gave him a copy of Bible Promises for You writing his name and the date and “Forgiven” in the front and “By the Spirit!” I stood up saying I would pray for him each day for the next year. He stood up with me then and said, “Thank you Sir.” And we both headed out.

So thanks for your prayers for the ministry and for evangelism today if you had a chance.  God truly blessed.

In Him,

Bob
