Hey brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I hope your day was blessed with all good things. I had a good day on campus but I was pretty worn out for some reason. Still Kento [ken toe] prayed with me to receive Christ. And hopefully Hannah (black girl from a Christian background who could not remember what Jesus did to take away her sins, round face hair up in Mickey mouse ears) and Sara (long brown thin hair and glasses–7th day Adventist who did not know Jesus had died for her either)  each seemed to need to process the Gospel a bit more. But each believed at the end Jesus was God had died for their sins and rose from the dead and thought they would pray later.

So Kento came in anyway. He was sitting a bit apart at the set of tables next to the stairs in the PE lounge. He had blue athletic shorts on and a white hoodie pull up over his afro. He was suffering from a cold and had a wad of Kleenex stuffed in his right nostril. He had classic African American features and a smooth oval face. When I asked him what he would say to God to get into Heaven he thought for minute then said, “Because I look out for people. I treat others the way I want to be treated.” He had gone to church some as a kid. He thought he had about a 50/50 chance of going to Heaven. I asked him what Jesus had done to take away his sins but he could not remember anything. So I explained the Gospel. That Jesus had died for him, His blood could cleanse him and His righteous could be to his credit. He focused well on everything I said to him and the verses I read the illustrations I used and tuned right in. I asked him if he would want to be forgiven for his sins or thought something else and he said, “I would want to be forgiven for my sins.” So I asked, “Do you believe Jesus is God has died for your sins and rise from the dead?” He didn’t hear me clearly and said, “Wait what?” so I said the same thing again and he said, “Yes,” without hesitation. As I went through he prayer somewhere in the middle he said something affirming, I think it was just “Yep”. And so I read, “Is this prayer the desire of your heart?” “Yes Sir,” he replied. So I said if he wanted to he could pray it silently, not so I would hear but God would hear him and forgive him, “Wanna do it?” I asked. “Yes Sir,” he said again. So I handed him the booklet and he prayed to receive Jesus. I explained then that now trusting in the righteousness of Jesus the likelihood he would go to Heaven was 100%. “Preciate it.” he said. He then said, “Thank you.” He said his mom had a Bible he could read so I offered him one of his own. He wanted one so I got one out showing him the “Where to Turn” section and the messianic passages. I wrote his name and the date and “forgiven” in the front. “Thank you, Appreciate you,” he said as I handed it to him. He did not want another book I gave him a Bible study on the ways Jesus claims to be God. Specifically I showed him where Jesus walking on the water fit the description of God in the Book of Job. He really like that explanation for why Jesus would do a miracle that made everyone in the boat look bad. I shook his hand getting up to go, telling him I would be praying for him until next spring. And he said, “Appreciate it.” And I headed out.

So thanks for your prayers for the ministry and for evangelism today if you had a chance, God truly blessed.

In Him,

Bob
