Hey Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I hop[e your day was blessed. I had a good day on campus and Andrea, Prayed to receive Jesus as her savior and Serena committed to Christ saying she would pray later. Miyax (Mia) took the student edition of The Case for Christ saying she would get it back to me and thanked me, I am hopeful to bump into her again.
Andrea was sitting just off the hall on a set of chairs waiting for her class to begin. She said she’d answer some questions. She had a winter cap on with her brown hair cruling up around the edges. She wore a puffy quilted coat and had a sweet kind face, bit of a pug nose kinda short wearing boots and leggings. When I asked her what she would say to God to get into Heaven she said, “I’d probably say… I was a sinner, I understand that, I know you love me enough you would never forsake me.” She thought she had a 50/50 chance to go to Heaven she said she’d be even (odds I think she meant). She knew Jesus had died for our sins but had not trusted in that. The more I talked the more I talked about the gospel and the imputed righteousness of Christ the more her heart seemed to lift. At one point she even said “Amen”. She wanted to be for given for her sins and so I asked her if when she was asking for forgiveness if she had hoped she was good enough to be forgiven and she would try hard into to do it again or was she thinking she knew she’d be forgiven trusting that Jesus died for her. “The first one,” she said. She thought she was more that you, “Just say it to feel better about yourself.” I walked her thought the prayer and she said that was nice and I asked her if she wanted to pray it and she did. She was visibly happy then. I gave her the book, 20 Things God Can’t Do writing “By the Spirit’s power” in the front explaining living the Christian life where all the power to do what God is asking you to do he gives you. I then wrote her name in the front and the date and “forgiven”. I explained that if she was trusting in the righteousness of God to be her righteousness that the likelihood she would go to Heaven was 100%. I told her, “If you are having a hard time trusting in God just ask for more trust.” I gave her a Bible study too and she was very grateful. “Thanks you so much.” She said, getting up to leave and joyfully crossed the hall to her classroom.
Serena was sitting in a row of chairs at the front of the tunnel to go into the PE building underground. She said she’d do a student survey. She had wire rimed aviator style glasses and long brown hair, fair skinned, pretty friendly face. It turned out her father was Indian in heritage but she didn’t look like she had any genes from the asian gene pool of her dad’s family with fair skin and lighter hair. He taught philosophy at a school in downtown Chicago. When I asked her what she would say to God to get into Heaven she said, “I’ve trusted Him in the hardest parts of my life, even though in the easy parts I’ve forgotten about Him.” She thought she had about a 75% chance of going to Heaven and she knew Jesus had died for her sins but she had not been trusting in what Jesus had done for her forgiveness. After going through the Gospel I explanined that you can be trusting that God will take care of you as your creator but not be trusting in Him as your savior. She saw that this was true and when I asked if she had been trusting the she would be forgiven because of what Jesus had done she said she had not been thinking that because He died “the slate was wiped clean”. When I talked her through the prayer I asked if that was something she had done or she still needed to do. She said she still needed to do that but she wanted to pray when she was by herself. Her dad was a Christian and so I knew she had access to a lot of books so I just gave her a Bible Study and told her if she prayed to receive Jesus I would pray for her each night for the next year which she thought was great. We talked about intelligence, her dad was smart but I said we will all stand before Jesus one day and be stupid. We chatted some more and she thanked me for sitting and talking with her. So I am hopeful she will genuinely pray to receive Jesus and I will discover this later as I sometimes do. She seemed to really like the idea that I would pray for her so I will for a while in the hope she will come.
Mia was sitting by the doors along the back of the BIC waiting to leave and talked with me a while answering questions. Long black hair fair skin pretty full face, (complexion like mine had seen some stress). She said she was not sure if Jesus was God had died for her sins and rose from the dead though her parents have Bible studies in her house she said she really did not know much about it. She did not go to Church. So I gave her the student edition of The Case for Christ (as I mentioned above) and a Bible Study on the Deity of Christ. As she got up to leave she said sincerely, “Thanks so much Bob.” So I will pray for her too.
So thanks very much for your prayers for the ministry and for evangelism today if you had a chance. I could feel the Lord providing and guiding me.
In Him,
