Spring Prayer Letter – updated 4/15/22

“But we preach Christ crucified…”  1 Corinthians 1:23

Hey Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I hope you have been doing well since we last mailed out a letter. Sorry it has been a while. Most of the people that support our ministry on campus get emails with a report each day that I go out to do evangelism. This week is Spring Break. Ellen is filing paperwork to keep us an NFP (something she does as a kindness, as Third Watch could never afford to pay her) and I decided to do an update.

In the course of understanding the studies Pfizer has done (court documents now show, since they were forced to release them) I realized I am exposed to a lot of stuff on campus. Pfizer claims the vaccine sheds spike proteins to others. So I have been taking more supplements to help me stay on top of the fatigue I’m feeling this year. Though I have not felt 100% very often, 51 people have prayed to receive Jesus this semester along with 86 that did so last semester.  There are several others who committed to Christ saying they would pray later, so I pray for them not knowing God’s work after I left their company. Many consider themselves Christians before speaking with me, but are hoping they will be good enough to go to Heaven. It seems like a toss-up as to if they know Jesus died to take away their sins. The week before last on campus, the response of Emily (she prayed to receive Jesus) was a good example. When I ask her what she would say to God if asked “Why should I let you into Heaven?” “Because… I wanna say I tried my best,” she replied after thinking about it a while. But she did not seem to think that was a good answer saying, “That’s a hard question. I don’t think I’ve ever thought about that.” I asked Wayne, after explaining the Gospel to him, if he had been trusting in Jesus or his good works to save him. “I have been trusting in my works,” he replied. “But after hearing this, there’s something I’m gonna have to do.” He also prayed with me to receive Jesus.

I don’t know if it is a problem in the Churches of the US that the Gospel is not clearly proclaimed. (Though I have visited 4 large churches in my area that offered people salvation or a relationship with Christ without once mentioning the Cross or the resurrection of Christ.) But I don’t know enough about other churches. Campus is not a fair test. I am not doing a random sample of church-going people on campus at all, really. I am praying to be led to the people who need to hear the Gospel and think about it with regard to their own salvation. College can be a time when you first separate a bit, thinking on your own apart from your family. I believe God is directing me to people who are ready to hear, though most students politely decline to talk to me. It is the mystery of the inner workings of the minds of people and the movement of the Spirit when they will be willing to listen. I also give out The Case for Christianity Answer Booklet and less often the longer book by Lee Strobel, The Case for Christianity. So I am hopeful others will one day turn (I pray for over 30 I have met). Sadly, books are not the main source of new information anymore and most students’ News Feed is probably “Twitter.” God is able.

So thanks for your prayers for the ministry on campus. I have had a sense of God’s leading, often having a picture in my head of a place to go to or an inner nudge, finding a student there who then prayed with me.

These are the 137 students who have received Christ so far this school year.  And 6 (*) who said they would pray later.  Please keep them in your prayers. I am praying for each of them every night.

Brieana, Delyla, Jermaine, Tryvis, Dajon, Edwin, Solomon, Brandon, Joe, AJ, Rafael, Keyshawn, Edmund, Fiyin, Cedric, Marshawn, Derek, Micheal, Anecia, Adrian, Amarillus, Richard, Joe, Victor, Natalie, Katie, Abraham, Eddie, Beth, Devion, Karina, Arielle, Slone, Henry, Leo, Jake, Anthony, Laila, Cam, Fashawn, Aniya, Amaya, Garrett, Gabriel, Ryan, Travis, Jack, Juan, Armen, Nathan, Roman, Fabi, Noah, Ben, Eugenia, Alexis, Bobby, Jeremy, Alma,  JJ, Yaritza, Maritza, Karina, Vernon, Sam, Brooklyn, Keagan, D’Andre, Ash, Matt, Tyler, Nuvia, Dom, Kaliyah, Jenn, Romel, Kendall, Thea, Eduardo, Daniel, Marissa, Harry, Jimmy, Elena, Jordan, Nya, George*, Leon*, Adrian*, Lewis*, Matt, Hazel, Angelina*, Valentin, Demo, Kori, Victoria, Gabriel, Milda, Esther, Nikki, Lucas, Jaden, Cira, Jerry, Caleb, Elona, Corey, Aleksander, Solomon, Carlos, Jalen, Gloria, Brooke, Rafel, Sam, Vlad,  Klay, Kevin, Javier, Tireh, Wayne, Emily, Breyon, Denise, Nicholas, Kai, Eric, Nicholas, Manuella, Juan, Favian, Kevin, Aaliyah, Tony, Gary, Liz, Milly, Gingis, Jamal, Laney, Bianca, Mar*

Two students, Alma and Dejah, meet with Ellen and me for discipleship each week. So we have enjoyed that time together.

Your prayers & gifts keep our ministry going.  We are so blessed by your partnership with us.

In Him,

PS As I mentioned I have had some health issues through the semester and relative to that I recently have taken in some information from Karen Kingston, a medical writer and former employee of Pfizer. Hey Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I hope your weekend has been blessed as you think on the love of God poured out when Christ died for sinners. I had a good day on campus yesterday and Mar received Christ. Please pray her faith grows.

She had to run to class but said she would want to be forgiven and the prayer was the desire of her heart. I asked, “Do you trust in Jesus for forgiveness?” and she said yes so I quickly gave her Bible Promises for You and wrote her name and Forgiven in the front. Then she ran off with 5 minutes until her class began.  She looked like Native American. Pretty, wide face, dark hair. She wore gray baggy sweats and a leather coat with a black t-shirt with bling on it. When I asked her what she would say to get into Heaven she said, “I’d probably say… umm,” and then said, “Why wouldn’t you let me into Heaven.” So I will keep her in my prayers. I told her if she would trust in the righteousness of Jesus to be her righteousness the likelihood she would go to Heaven was 100%.

So thanks for your prayers for the ministry and for evangelism last week if you had a chance. 2 students prayed with me and one committed to Christ who I hope has also come in.

In Him,

Bob

Hey Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

I hope your day was blessed on Tuesday. I had a good day on campus talking to Christians. I encouraged Camilla in assurance of salvation and explained the righteousness of Christ and she was really grateful. Brad took a copy of The Case for Christianity Answer Booklet. I asked him if deep in his heart he felt like the he believed Jesus was God had died for his sins and rose from the dead and pausing a bit he said he did but had a lot of questions, I answered a couple preemptively. He was really grateful we talked. He’d not been to church since 2nd grade.

So thanks for your prayers for the ministry and for evangelism today. God blessed though no one turned in the moment I will be praying for Brad.

In Him,

Bob

Hey Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I hope your day was blessed with a walk in the sunshine of His love and ya got some vitamin D out of the deal. Laney & Bianca each prayed with me to receive Jesus today. Please pray they grow in the faith they received. Their stories are below if you have time.

Laney was sitting at the end of the 2nd floor hallway heading toward the student services lounge where Starbucks is located. She had on a light grey hoodie and shredded jeans she had completely poked through with her legs, basically looked like shorts that became a big hole and began again as pants at her shins somewhere. She was petite, had straight brown hair and no make-up, sharp chin and nose for features, pretty face and long powder blue nails. She said she had gone to church and a Wednesday youth-group for students all through school until she got busy with college. I asked her what she would say to God and she said, “I don’t know. Probably that there’s a lot of things I’ve overcome as a person. I’ve been in really dark places; I’ve overcome them and been able to admit that I was wrong.” She thought she had a 45% chance of going to Heaven. I began to go through the Gospel with her telling her God wanted to take away her sin to know and live inside her. I asked her what Jesus had done to take away her sins and she struggled saying she thought she knew the answer but couldn’t think of it. So I said no problem and began explaining the Gospel to her, that God in Christ lived a perfect life for her and His blood was the payment for her sins. As I explained each point she said “Right,” agreeably. I explained the righteousness of Jesus that was to her credit. “So it’s like ya got some place to go, Heaven, and something to wear when you get there, the righteousness of God,” I explained. “Right,” she said. I explained that God adopted her making her his child and this was all by faith given her that saved her. I asked if she would want to trust in what Jesus had done to be forgiven for her sins and have God live inside her or thought something else. She said, “Probably be forgiven,” she replied pointing at the circle with God inside. “If you want to be forgiven there’s a prayer you can pray,” I said and explained the prayer to her asking (by reading the line), “Does this prayer express the desire of your heart?”  “Lemmie read it,” she said and she quickly read through the prayer and said, “Yeah.” I said she could pray it silently and she said, “Sure.” She took the booklet then and prayed to receive Jesus.  I took it back to explain living the Christian life “Inside out” and she said, “Thank you so much.” Which she said again 2 more times. I gave her Bible Promises for You writing her name and the date and “forgiven” in the front. I gave her a Bible study on the Deity of Christ. I told her I would pray for her for the next year one of the prayers of Paul each day and that now trusting in the Righteousness of God to be her righteousness the likelihood she would go to Heaven was 100%. I then thought to give her The Case for Christianity Answer Booklet asking her if she liked to read a bit. “I’ll take anything I can get,” she replied. She’d already said she had several Bibles she got as gifts. I put her name in it after explaining it with a few words. And handed it to her. “Thank you so much, thank you!” she said. “You’re welcome,” I replied and I headed around the corner to walk around more.

Bianca was sitting in the lounge that is kitty-corner from the police desk, which could be seen through the glass over her shoulder. She is African American wearing a hoodie and leggings had braids piled up on her head, some had been dyed a lighter brown. She wore a mask that she discarded as we finished talking. She had a full face and soft features, good looking gal. She looked older than 21 and had a 5 year old daughter, Avani. When I asked her what she would say to God to get into Heaven she said, “Because I did everything with a thankful heart.” She thought she had a 78% chance of going to Heaven. I explained the gospel to her and when I asked her what Jesus had done to take away her sins she said, “He forgives you?” I said yes God forgives you because He got paid.” And I began to explain the gospel to her. “Wait can I record this? I lead a positivity group and this is such a good message.” I said sure and the recording mostly caught my silhouette and voice. It stopped recording twice and she restarted it and I picked up more or less where I left off. As I finished I asked her if she would want to be forgiven trusting in Christ or thought something else. “I would want to be forgiven,” she replied. So I said there was a prayer she could pray and explained it to her and she said, “I receive it!” I said she could pray it silently and she would and she took the booklet and prayed to receive Jesus and then said, “Amen!” and turned off the recording. I explained living “inside out” transformed by the Spirit. I gave her Bible Promises for You writing her name and the date and “forgiven” on the inside. I explained that now trusting in the Righteousness of God in Christ to be her righteousness the likelihood she would go to Heaven was 100%.  She asked me what I would recommend she teach her daughter and I said she could find short Bible verses and help her memorize them and said there was a group called AWANA that if it is in a good church would be good for her. I said she could do a search for the Focus on the Family Website and they would have age appropriate materials. She was grateful and thanked me and blessed me and said she might come to Bible Study. “I’ll see you later,” she said and telling her I would be praying for her and her daughter I said, “OK” and headed out.

So thanks for your prayers for the ministry and for evangelism today if you had a chance God truly blessed.

In Him,

Bob

Hey Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I hope your weekend has been blessed with all good things from the Lord. We have been blessed with God’s provision. I’m glad it is sunny not snowing today and happily Milly trusted Christ on campus Thursday after first appealing to good works Gingis and Jamal each prayed with me to receive Jesus. Please pray their faith is affirmed and they now walk by it. All were very grateful. Their stories are below if you have the time.

Milly is 74 years old African American. She had on a wig and a long leather looking skirt and a jacket. She had classic black features, high cheek bones, a nice smile. She has a locker at COD. She said she lives with her daughter and it seems she maintains some privacy that way. That was kind of a vague story but COD would be a pretty safe place to have a locker. If you stopped paying because something happened to you they would open it and contact you to get the contents. I guess you can get one as a community service to retirement era folks. She had nothing but time on her hands, possibly waiting for a bus as we sat under the stairs by the doors near the Bookstore. She said she’d do a survey and she ended up having more questions for me than I had for her. We talked for over an hour. The Mormons had gotten her number and called her but she sent them packing. I said they were liars and she agreed. But I didn’t go into what they taught since she seemed to have discarded any idea they could be correct. She told me a couple dreams she’d had and since their content was things in the Bible I said, “When that happened in the Bible it meant…” She was very happy with looking at her dreams that way. I asked her what she would say to get into Heaven and she said, “Because I served you I am a servant I obeyed your statues and commandments.” I began explaining the Gospel to her. She objected and I would then explain the reasoning and then she changed her mind. She did not at first think God could live inside you and I explained the Trinity and it did not mean we were God to be one with Him. I explained how faith in what Jesus had done for her was what would bring her to Heaven not her good deeds and it was His righteousness not hers she needed to trust in.  At the end she said, “You have changed my thinking and now I understand the truth.” I walked her through the prayer and she said she believed it and committed to trusting in Christ by faith and resting in His righteousness not hers. I gave her Bible Promises for You. I wrote her name and the date and “Forgiven trusting in the Blood of Jesus by faith,” in the front. “I have heard many pastors and no one ever explained things this clearly to me,” she said. I said that was because the Holy Spirit was working in her so she would understand. I told her I taught a Bible study for a Biker club and one on campus for students. “Well other people need to hear than just bikers,” she said. “You need to start a Church.” I told her I would pray about it and if God gave me one I would do it. She said she’d email me in the fall to find out if He had. As far as I can tell no one else is talking to the students about the Gospel so I think my calling at school is still the place to be. We parted as I told her I was going to look for some kids to talk to and she thanked me.

Gingis was an Egyptian who was sitting at the top of the stairs at a table in the lounge against the fitness equipment in the PE building. He had a sweptback hairstyle of thick hair and a jaw line beard, a pencil thick mustache that ended with his mouth, his cheeks clean shaven, small features. He had on a blue shirt like a mechanic would wear at work and was busy on a laptop. He was Greek Orthodox and believed it to be the original Church telling me they had buildings thousands of years old. I said I imagined that if there was a question of which church was the oldest going back to the time of the Apostles, Egypt being so near the Holy land was a good possibility since the Jerusalem Church was basically destroyed with nearly every Jew in Jerusalem in 79AD. The earliest Bible manuscript fragments are Egyptian papyri. He said he had another Bible study group he went to but could not recall the name. So I said, “You wanna just answer one big question?” “Sure I can answer a question,” he replied. So I asked, “You’re walking down the road and you get hit by a bus so you’re dead and you stand before God and He says, ‘Why should I let you into Heaven?’ What would you say?” “I think he would look at my good deeds and my bad deeds and weigh them out,” he replied. I said so you think your good deeds will hopefully get you into Heaven?” I asked. “Yes,” he said. So I said the Bible says something a little bit different, would you want to hear some Bible verses about how you get into Heaven?” “Sure,” he replied. So I began to go through the Gospel with him. He seemed to know the verses and understand Jesus had died for him to take away his sins. So then I explained Jesus righteousness and how he could not pay God will anything perfect in his life though he owed God a perfect life, and the restitution of the damage of his sins. So God had to become a man Jesus who lived a perfect life for him. His blood cleansed him (1John 1:7) and pays God for all the imperfect things we have done that we owe God perfect payment for doing. “The real reason God can forgive you is He got paid, but He had to pay Himself. God is just.” I explained Jesus righteousness is his righteousness. He wanted to trust in Jesus by faith as I finished going through the Gospel with him. He read through the prayer with me and he said he agreed and I said, “Amen?” “Amen,” he replied “I appreciate you man thank you!” he said enthusiastically. I gave him Bible Promises for You and wrote his name and the Date and “Forgiven” on the inside and gave him a Bible study. I said, “God Bless you man,” getting up to go. “Thank you. I appreciate you man,” He said again happily. And I headed off down the stairs.

I went out to the tunnel over to the BIC and Jamal was sitting on a row of chairs as you come out of the tunnel. He was in sweats all black but the sweatshirt had some colorful lettering here and there. He had braids making a chess board block pattern on the top of his head coming out about6 inches. Clean shaven oval face, good looking guy. He said had been asked to do a survey before and if he’d done it, it left him no enthusiasm for another. So I asked, “Ya just wanna take a booklet?” “Yeah I’ll take one,” he said. So I gave one to him and began to explain the Gospel to him saying, “Christianity is like a blood transfusion, I have A+ blood so if you fill me with B- blood I would clot up and die. God wants to fill you full of His Spirit then since He is eternal and the source of life you would have eternal life. But first he has to make you His type, so he takes way your sin.” I could see he was really interested by that so I knew the Spirit was moving him and I continued to go through the Gospel until I had finished it with the Booklet. I asked if he would want to be forgiven trusting in Jesus and he said yes. And so I said if he wanted to be forgiven there was a prayer he could pray and talked him through it saying he could pray it right now and he’d be forgiven. He took the booklet and began to pray. Cam who had prayed to receive Jesus in the fall walked by and knew him and said hi. Jamal looked up from praying said hi and went right back to it. Then Cam greeted me, he’s always really friendly. He is a huge offensive lineman (fair skinned black guy ) with kind of a loose afro of curls. It goes straight up and makes him look about 5 inches taller. We shook hands and I told him I was still praying for him each night and he thanked me and headed down the tunnel. Jamal had finished so I explained living “inside out” where God transforms us on the inside, we become good men, and do good things on the outside. I gave him Bible Promises for You and wrote his name and the date and “Forgiven” on the inside. “Thank you so much,” he said in return. I gave him a Bible study and told him I would be praying for him each night, one of the prayers of Paul as I did for Cam. “Thank you so much,” he said again and I said he was welcome and headed down the hall north out of sight.

So thanks for your prayers for the Ministry last week and for evangelism. Though I had a day that was just evangelistic discussions and was under the weather another day 4 people trusted Christ all together and God truly blessed.

In Him,

Bob

Hey Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I hope your day was blessed with all good things from God’s kind hand. Liz prayed with me to receive Christ today. Please pray for her to come to increased conviction about her bad choices and for the word of Christ to take root in her life and produce fruit. Her story is below if you have the time. Another girl Alex polish from the border of Ukraine thanked me saying, “I actually learned a lot.” She felt like Christ was in her. I think she came to understand the Gospel really for the first time. She knew Jesus had died for her but had been appealing to her works until after I explained everything so I will pray for her.

Liz was sitting in the hallway on a row of chairs seeming to wait for class to begin. She wore skinny jeans, had a long oval face and round bottom student glasses, straight brown hair past her shoulders. She had a child, I believe a daughter, and her mom brought the little girl to church without her. She looked 19 or 20. The father was in the picture, was her boyfriend. Nice kid. I asked her what she would say to God if he asked “Why should I let you into Heaven.” “Hmm, that’s a tough one,” She replied. I don’t know.” I asked her if she went to church when she was a kid, she said she had and so I asked what she thought they would say gets you into Heaven. “Putting all your faith in God,” she replied. She thought she had a 75% chance of getting into Heaven. She knew Jesus had died to take away our sins. As I explained the Gospel she asked, “What if you make bad choices?” I said, “About half the people in the Bible make bad choices. I had a Navy Seal tell me once, when I said God could forgive him, ‘You don’t know what I’ve done.’ I asked him if he had ever gone into a small village and killed every man woman and child and every animal and run off with their stuff. He said, ‘No.’ I said David did that and God forgave him.”  She had made a run of recent bad choices; she hoped her boyfriend would forgive her. It seemed she thought it was a trend of late. She’d invited another guy over who had worked on her car for her. Nothing had happened except her boyfriend had discovered it. She said she felt like the car repair boy was more her type than her boyfriend. I said for the sake of her daughter that decision was already made and there were sacrifices you have to make when you have children. She agreed saying she had not gotten any good advice about it.  I told her the solution to making bad choices was to ask God to live inside her and help her make the right choices. I explained that God could make all things work together for good for those who loved Him. She needed to choose to be forgiven trusting in what Christ had done with God inside her and ask God to work. I asked if she’d want to be forgiven for her sins. And she said she did. I said if she wanted to be forgiven there was a prayer she could pray and after explaining it I asked if it was the desire of her heart. She said it was and I said she could pray it silently. “To myself,” she said. I said, “Yeah talking to God.” And she prayed to receive Jesus. I explained living the Christian life “inside out”. A guy who had been leering at me from across the hall interrupted then asking some things about who I was, trying to make it clear he did not think I should be talking to people about God. I told him I had permission to be there and carried a letter and the cops knew who I was. He did not like the answer and said something about not really asking if I had permission, though he clearly was. “Do they know you are walking around proselytizing?” he asked. I said that I had a lawyer had taken the steps necessary and yes they knew. He was older, 23 maybe a well groomed bearded, larger guy. I was concerned not to put a bad end on my conversation with Liz so I did my best to disengage with him. He ruined the last of the time I had with Liz, at least in any way of getting more of her story. I gave her Bible Promises for You and wrote her name and the date and “forgiven” in the front. I told her I would pray for her for the next year and she thanked me. I headed out.

So thanks for your prayers for the ministry and for evangelism today if you had a chance God truly blessed.

In Him,

Bob

Hey Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I hope you were blessed today with all good things from the Love of God. I had a good day on campus and Kevin committed to Christ saying he would pray & Aaliyah prayed to receive Christ as Savior. Please pray they grow in their faith and walk with the Lord. Their stories are below if you have some time. Yesterday I had long interview discussions with two guys who had said they were atheists and as I left them described themselves more as agnostic. Nick, sitting a 1st floor BIC atrium lounge on the North  side. He had boyish face was a future journalist with a baseball cap over short sandy hair. He took The Case for Christianity Answer Book. He was really grateful. Later in the science lounge on the second floor, overlooking the step down lounge that connects the buildings, I found Andy. He looked like a surfer kid with a blonde mop of curls short on the side. He a square chin, blue eyes. He took a creation magazine after I explained how all the animals could fit on the Ark.

Kevin looked Latino and goes each week to Catholic church. He was wearing read trainers and jeans and a t-shirt. He had a mop of straight dark hair and looked like his skin was still recovering from not having to wear a mask. He was sitting reading a text for class the size of a coffee table book, it held bright Medieval looking pictures as I glanced at it. I asked him if he wanted to do a student survey for a Bible Study about what he thought about God. “I’m reading about God right now,” He replied from a seat on a row of chairs off the student activities area. “Oh yeah,” I replied, “what class?” “European History,” We discussed the survey and I asked what he would say to God to get into Heaven. He said he thought that if you tried to please God and did basically good things you would go to Heaven. I began to explain the Gospel to him and went back and forth. He knew Jesus had died to take away his sin and I reminded him the Mass he took each week was symbolic of what Jesus had done and when he took it he should say “thank you”. I finally showing him the booklet and asking him if he wanted to be forgiven. “I would want to be forgiven,” he replied. I asked if he had ever told God he wanted to be forgiven trusting in Jesus or was hoping he was good enough and would go to Heaven. “The second one,” he replied. So I showed him the prayer and said he could pray it silently and he said sure took the booklet and then said I really do have to read this stuff. So I said sure sorry to keep you and I gave him Bible Promises for You. And said I’d see him in Heaven and took off having the impression he would pray as I left.

Aaliyah was sitting in the hallway of the BIC on the 1st floor. She was reading on her lap top but she said she’d do a survey. She was a black girl with full lips and kind of a button top nose, a had a fountain of teased out afro off the top of her head with a grey hoodie half pulled up, she wore nylon leggings with diamond shapes on the side. Cute kid, thin and small. She said she went to an Apostolic Church and wanted to have a career as a traveling nurse and go to at least 20 countries. When I asked her what she would say to get into Heaven she said, “Hmm what would I say… that’s a real good question. I would say even though I didn’t deserve to be in Heaven I always kept a strong faith. I always spread your word to lead people closer to you.” She thought she had a 75% chance of going to Heaven. I went through the Gospel and she knew Jesus had died and even had John 3:16 memorized. I asked her as I finished going through the Gospel if she would want to be forgiven trusting in what Jesus had done and she said “I would want to be forgiven for my sins,” she said with some enthusiasm. So I asked if she had ever asked God to forgive her trusting in what Jesus had done or if she was just hoping she would be forgiven. “I try to ask God to forgive me all the time,” she replied. “But were you trusting in Jesus when you did that,” I asked “Or were you just thinking God would forgive you. “I just was, hopefully,” she replied. So I said if she wanted to ask God to forgive her trusting I Jesus there was a prayer she could pray and I talked her through it and asked if it was the desire of her heart. She said it was. So I said she could pray it right there silently, I wouldn’t hear her but God would hear and she’d know she was forgiven. “OK,” she replied. I said, “Just pretend I’m not even here and she giggled with an actual “He, he, he,” kind of musically (I think thinking it was funny I would disappear) and prayed to receive Christ. I explained living “inside out” asking God to transform her. I said now trusting in the righteousness of Jesus to be her righteousness the likelihood she would get into Heaven was 100%. I gave her Bible Promises for You writing her name and the date and forgiven on the inside and a Bible study and said I would keep her in my prayers and she was thankful.  “God bless your plans,” I said getting up to go. “Thank you, you too,” she replied. And I headed off.

Thanks for your prayers today.

Bob

Hey Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

I hope your day was a good one walking in the joy of the Lord as your strength. I had a good day on campus and Favian prayed to receive Christ. Also Juan a guy I had gone through the Gospel with and talk to off and on said he had trusted in Christ a while after we talked the first time. He has kind of teddy bear good looks and is great at soccer, wears his hair shaved on the sides and a crew cut on top. Last I spoke to him he told me he had been reading proverbs so I gave him a Bible promise book. So I’m grateful he has decided to follow Christ. We had a talk today on guidance and promiscuity, he is living a pure life so I helped him see the benefits long term of holding to that. Favian’s story is below if you have time.

Favian was sitting in the cafeteria and I began talking to him waiting for our Bible study to begin in the same room. His questions tied me up for a while and I was late but Ellen sat with the girls that are now coming and held down the fort. Favian was a bit on the shorter side he had a crew cut and soft features. He was a pretty average looking guy but for a couple freckle birthmarks. He wore glasses with metal rims wore a t-shirt. He had been to Catholic church as a kid. When I asked him what he would say to God if he died and was asked, “Why should I let you into Heaven” He paused for a min. with a “Hmm, what would I say to God.” The he replied, “Because to the best of my ability I treated people the way I want to be treated. I treated them with respect hopefully with enough care to make them feel they mattered.” He thought he at a 35% chance of getting into Heaven. When I asked what Jesus had done to take away his sins he said, He carried his cross.” I said, “Yeah, He died for you.” He listened closely to the Gospel and I asked him if he would want to be forgiven trusting in Jesus for forgiveness. He then said, “I personally don’t agree with being forgiven just by faith or [by] believing in God.” I replied that he was not being forgiven just because he had faith, he was being forgiven because there was a terrible price in the death and suffering of Christ that allowed God to forgive him because He had been paid (which I had already explained). He said he hated handouts where there was nothing in return. I pointed out that there were all kinds of things given to him in this life he would never be able to repay or simply couldn’t. One was his parents care for him as a child, changing his diapers and feeding him among other things. I talked to him about the infrastructure of America and how much we had been granted just be living here, highways and electric power everywhere. I then said that he would be expected to give a lot in return if he gave his life to God. God would be his boss and could ask anything of him and some of it would require sacrifice different than what others were doing. I said these things God would ask him might be very difficult and that we were headed into very hard times as a country where the things God was asking him to do might cost him a lot. His actions could only demonstrate to God that he was genuinely grateful for eternal life, but could not pay God back for the suffering of Christ. He asked if God would appreciate what someone had done by basically being good. I said, “There is an old saying that all that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. But there is another much more common way evil triumphs, it’s when good men to the wrong thing.” I explained God was playing 3-d chess and he could end up being the rook that went to the wrong square and it ended up sacrificing the queen. We could only hope to contribute to the good God was doing in the world if he was guiding and directing us. He wanted to do an Iron man completion and I used examples from that of God being with him. He asked about people who had not heard in other countries. I said there were 10’s of thousands of people coming to Christ in Iran by God appearing to them in dreams saying, “Pray to me alone.” These then would come across a Christian who could not publically proclaim their faith or be killed there and clandestinely enter the underground church. I said I believed that anyone who was genuinely seeking God, God would find them. But most are not. I explained the trade off of living for God now when compared to the far longer eternity that awaits. He had some other good questions. I had read through the prayer with him earlier and guided him back to it asking if he would want to be forgiven where God lived inside him and gave him strength and guidance. “For sure,” he finally replied after about 30 minutes of answering things. And he prayed then to receive Christ. Ellen was only a couple tables away but I realized then how late I was and I gave him a Bible study and wrote his name and the date and “forgiven!” in the front of Bible Promises for You. He was grateful and happy and I headed over to teach the girls.

So thanks for your prayers for the Ministry and for Evangelism today if you had a chance God truly blessed.

Hey Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I hope your day is being blessed and you are resting in Him, every day is the Sabbath rest in Christ (Hebrews 4).  Nicholas and Manuella each prayed to receive Jesus today. Please pray for them. Their stories are below if you have the time.

Nicholas was sitting in a lounge a picture of which came into my mind to go to when I first came to campus. I think this was from the Lord. I went straight there and he was sitting in the corner by the windows of an atrium lounge on the 1st floor of the BIC the SE end of the building. He had a mop of hair like the character Shaggy in the Scooby Doo kids show. I never saw his face completely but he was wearing a red bandanna sewed into a mask and had a red t-shirt on, glasses and jeans. He was typing what looked to be a long text on a tablet. He said he had gone to Catholic school through the 8th grade when it had become too expensive. He went to church each week. When I asked him what he would say to God to if he died to get into Heaven he said, “That’s a tough one.” Then thinking more he said, “I’d ask ‘Why are you here for me? What did I do that you’re here’.” It seemed like he did not expect to meet God immediately for some kind of Judgment but it would transpire another way. So I asked him what he thought he would have to do on earth to get into Heaven. “Live a good life, respect others treating them the way you would want to be treated.” he said. He knew Jesus had died to take away our sins and thought he had a 40% chance of going to Heaven. He was a nice guy and tuned right in to the Gospel, responding with a word or a laugh as I laid it out for him. I explained that the Blood of Jesus, like what was symbolic in the mass, had cleansed us from all sin and the bread was Jesus body broken on the cross from him and when he took it he should just say thank you because that meant he was forgiven. I finished all I say and asked if he would want to be forgiven for his sins trusting in Jesus or thought something else. “I would want to be forgiven, wouldn’t everyone?” he replied. I said if he had never told God he would want to be forgiven there was a prayer he could pray. I talked him through it and asked if it was the desire of his heart and he said, “Pretty close.” I said if he wanted to he could pray it silently and know he was forgiven. “Yeah I could pray that,” he replied and he took the booklet and prayed to receive Jesus. I explained living the Christian life trusting in the Holy Spirit’s transforming power.  He did not have a Bible so I gave him one and showed him the “Where to Turn” section putting the ribbon marker in that spot. I also showed him the messianic passages and wrote his name and the date and “forgiven!” in the front. I gave him The Case for Christianity Answer Booklet saying there was some things in it for Easter. I gave him a Bible Study on the Deity of Christ. I said I would keep him in my prayers for the next year and he said, “I’ll pray for you too.” I thanked him and he said, “Thank you, this is all very informative.” I got up and headed out.

Right before a class Manuella was going to go to with Jay, the guy sitting next to her on the 3rd floor of the BIC, I walked up. He had orange brown hair that went straight up in a high afro, she had multiple braids. She wore a green hoodie and colorful sweat pants that looked randomly spot dyed, mostly white.  Both wore masks so I never saw their faces. I asked her if she wanted to do a survey. She said she was about to go to class so I said would you like to just answer the big question she said ok. She said she was in another Bible Study and I got the impression Jay might be going too. When I asked her if she died and stood before God and he asked “Why should I let you into Heaven?” she said, “That’s a tough one.” I knew she would only have a minute and I wanted her to hear enough to understand so I asked what she thought it was got her into Heaven. She said you had to keep the Passover and believe in God. I explained that Jesus fulfills the Passover talking about the blood on the door posts in the Exodus Story was now Jesus blood and He was the Passover lamb. I said in Hebrews 4 Jesus fulfills the Sabbath, that Sabbath just means “rest” which they both seemed to know and now we find out rest in Him. I explained the righteousness of God Jesus earned by perfectly fulfilling the law and said His righteousness could be hers by faith. Jay missed some of the analogy taking his backpack to class. I explained God’s forgiveness and she really tuned in. He came back from across the hall where there class had begun. I asked if she’d like to be forgiven explaining she could be forgiven by faith. She said she did and I explained the prayer to her and she prayed to receive Jesus. I gave them both copies of the booklet. Jay wanted one and was very interested. They each took Bible Promises for You.  I wrote Jay’s name in his and asked for her spelling to get it right putting the date and “forgiven” in the front. I hope to bump into them again to explain more to them, as I am afraid they might be in one of the Heterodox groups on campus. She said she had a Bible from yet another group. Christians on Camus gives them out. They quickly stood up and I apologized for making them late and they said, “No problem,” and disappeared into class.

So thanks for your prayers for the ministry and for evangelism today if you had a chance. God truly blessed.

In Him,

Bob

Hey Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I hope your day was blessed with all good things contributing to peace and rest in the Lord. The world in many ways is obviously beyond our ability to affect it. We might as well trust in Jesus and His power. I had a good day on campus and Eric prayed with me to receive Christ. Matteo was close but had not prayed in several years so I will pray for him. He had a horrible break in his leg that took him off the football field and now he wished to be a coach. Eric’s story is below if you have time, please pray for him.

Eric was sitting in the Science building on a bench on the second floor facing north. He was up for doing a survey just killing time it seemed. He had a hoodie on under a Grey leather jacket, blue jeans and dark sneakers. He had a neatly trimmed beard and a shorter brown hair haircut, making straight short bangs on his forehead. He thought he had a survey he’d gotten by email and I said this was different and I asked him the big question and said I could tell him the answer based on the Bible. After that he thought he’d like to take the survey. When I asked him what he would say to God to get into Heaven he said, “It’s… part of it’s not based on character but how your actions have impacted everyone. It’s better to know what people have thought about you through your lifespan. Faith has a part to do with it as well and also the impact you have had.” I said that Jesus had said that to love the Lord with all your heart soul and strength and your neighbor as yourself was all the law and the prophets so that people felt loved would seem to be important. He thought Lutheran and Calvinistic churches were more about faith and it seemed he had been to Catholic school but wasn’t in church. He knew Jesus had died and it took away our sin. He seemed hard for me to get a read on and he had the facial expression most of the time that felt like (to me) he had heard it all before. But I have had to tell myself as I go through the Gospel that I don’t know what people are thinking. I know need to trust in God’s power through His word so I rested in that and kept reading Bible verses. I asked him if he wanted to be forgiven for his sins trusting in Jesus or thought something else like Islam or Buddhism. And I was surprised a bit when he said, “I would want to be forgiven for my sins. So I said that if he would like to be forgiven there was a prayer he could pray and I talked through it and asked if it was the desire of his heart. “Yeah,” he replied and so I said he could pray it quietly or silently and know he was forgiven asking if he would want to do that right now. He said he would and I handed him the booklet and he checked if he needed to pray aloud and said, “No silently.” And he prayed to receive Jesus. I explained the Christian life to him living “inside out” by the Spirit’s power and he thanked me. I gave him Bible Promises for You writing his name and the date and “forgiven!” in the front. I gave him a Bible Study on the Deity of Christ. I showed him The Case for Christianity Answer Booklet asking if he thought it would be valuable to him and he thought it would so I gave him that. I thanked him for talking to me and he said sure and I got up to go and said, “God bless you.” “God bless you too,” he replied and then said “Thank you.” I wandered a bit through the rest of the science buildings but it was largely empty and the couple people I asked were not interested. I remembered I had not offered him assurance of salvation based on the survey question he’d said he thought he had an 80% chance of getting into Heaven. So as I passed him on the way out I said, “Remember that question how likely is it you will go to Heaven, I wanted to tell you that now it’s 100% trusting in the righteousness of Jesus to be your righteousness.” He thanked me again, smiling. I headed out down the hall over the bridge into the other buildings.

So thanks for your prayers for the ministry and for evangelism today if you had a chance, God truly blessed.

In Him,

Bob
